I used a psd template a while back that allowed me to change the text on the photo by changing it in the layers pallet as opposed to changing it on the actual photo itself. How do I change a text layer to make it editable in the layers pallet?
I had a template at one time that allowed me to drop a photo into a box in the payer pallet and the photo became that layer with preset layer properties. How would I create such a box that I would be able to drop a photo into on the layer pallet?
Hi everyone I'm a complete beginner with photoshop, I have CS6 I'm looking to copy a style of text from a photo and replace it with other text.
The style of text I am trying to copy is from a stamp so I don't think it will be in selection of texts available in photoshop, have tried looking around youtube for tutorials but I cannot find anything along these lines.
I've attached a photo of the text I would like to change, it says JUN 2014 I would like to change it to AUG 2014 using the same text.
Any advice much appreciated
Thanks
Hi
I have a file with 760 layers plus a background that is a photo. The layers are rasterised smart layers from Illustrator
I have a task by which I have to have the background always visible. I then make the first layer visible as well as the background and then save for web and devices. Once one I turn that layer off and then turn the next layer on and then save for web and devices. 760 times Oh God!!!!
I know I can create an action and even a droplet from the action the issues I have is how do I tell the action to turn the first layer on and then optimize the resultant image and then turn that layer off and then move to the nest layer and so on through the 760 layers
Any ideas would be great
Thanks
Hi folks, newbie to the board. I'm using Photoshop CS6 and have hit an issue that I can't get to the bottom of and was hoping someone could help.
I've completed an image for a client. The original involves many layers, and I have got to the point when I want to merge everything down into a PDF for them to send to their printers.
Problem I am having is that when I try to directly save as a PDF or merge down the layers in a copy of my main PSD file, I am losing certain layer styles.
I have tried creating a blank layer below an offending layer and hitting CTRL + E, I have tried creating a blank layer, hiding all but the offending layer and blank layer and merging visible, I have tried Layer - Rasterize Layer Style, I have tried turning the layer into a smart object and then rasterizing (I lost the layer style as soon as I turned it into a smart object, even though it is still present in the smart object itself), and I have tried turning the layer into a group and merging the group. I have also tried saving the file in a number of different formats to no avail. I don't know what else I can try and why none of this has worked! I've also tried right clicking on the FX in the layer palette and chosen "Create Layers" at which point I get a dialog: "Some aspects of the effects cannot be reproduced with layers", and I get the same result. Most noticeable style that disappears is the drop shadow.
Weird thing is this isn't the case for every layer. I've particularly noticed it happens on text layers that have been text warped. However I've tried rasterizing them before trying to merge and that hasn't helped so I can't see how that is the problem.
I hope someone can help, I am totally stumped. If it makes a difference the mode is CMYK Color, 8 bit.

Hello,
I am trying to help a neighbor with a birthday invitation in CS4. For some reason, when we print the image, the text color is missing. We are trying to print the image on pink paper. The text layers are a silver color. No matter what color we change the text layers to, it won't print them in the chosen color. It just shows up as the pink paper. I have attached a screen shot.
Could anyone please tell me what I am doing wrong?
hey guys nothing much to do today boring day lol , so was just using PS and my paragraph pallet disappeared :( , any idea , how i can get it back ?
I have Photoshop CC and I loaded a PSD file into it with many layers.
Somebody created the PSD design for me.
I am trying to export all layers separately but when I go to Scripts >> Export Layers to Files, it kinda mixes a particular layer with all other layers.
So I can never get a layer on its own.
Have a look at one of these export below. The top shade should be on its own, but its accompanied by the bottom layer also. Every other file is also accompanied by the bottom layer. Any idea how I can just export all layers on their own?
Any suggestions?

Hey all. I'm trying to recreate the blur effects of the logo(s) used for the Tate Modern.
The logos:

One of the solutions suggests using gradient masks, feathering and adjusting the curves. This works but falls short of achieving the more exaggerated effect of for instance the last two photo I've posted above. Are there other things I can do to bloat/obscure the shape of the letters? I also want them to still look like there going in/out of focus.
In addition I've had trouble with the gradient masks:
As you may be able to see, part of the text (diagonally across the middle) is masked over slightly. The idea was to create two complementing gradient masks so one masks over the top left one layer, one masks over the bottom right of one layer so when the layers are placed on top of each other it creates one seamless, solid color. I thought I could do this by copying the gradient mask of the first layer, moving it to the second layer and inverting the colors, but as you can see a grey area appears, where the two fading gradient masks seem to overlap. Here is the text with the gradient masks disabled:
Also the original typeface they used is supposedly VAG Rounded.
Thank you so much for your time!
I used to know it but can't remember anymore and after a long search online, still can't figure it out.
Ok, I have a bunch of layers and I want to make a lasso selection on the top layer and then use whatever the correct keyboard shortcut is to make a new layer with a merge of all the underlying layers made in the lasso selection area.
I know I can cntrl-alt-shift E and stamp a new layer on top of the stack with a merged version of all the layers below and then make a lasso selection and cntrl-J that to a new layer, then delete the cntrl-alt-shift E layer...but I would like to save the step of having to make the merged layer first. There is a keyboard short cut for this but I just cant find it.
Any of you pro's have the answer to this? Would really appreciate it.
Thanks!!
Hello,
I'm new to PS and new to this forum, so be kind! I need to edit the font used in my product category images and to do it I have tried filling the text in with the matching colour, and then retype the text. However the images have been created (as you can see) with a transparent layer over the actual product and in-between the text. So my question is, how can I fill the text in without losing the "transparent" effect? below is an original image and an image where I have removed the text by filling it in
Many thanks, Ben
