A Way To Repeat A Tool On Several Selected Areas At Once?

Probably a bad subject title so let me explain what I am trying to do.

I have a very basic image (screenshot 1). Trust me, this is not an exercise but similar to the image I will be using,ha!

I select each white circle and using smart erase I can erase each circle (screenshot 2) but I want a feathered/gradient effect like (screenshot 3).

Then when I add a background color it gives the effect I am after (screenshot 4).

So here is the issue - Each image will have 100's of white dots and they will be random on each image (sort of like a star field would be a good comparison). So I need to find a way to perform the same procedure all at once on all the dots (preferred way I would think), sort of like using smart erasure but with a feather effect, or need to create an "action" that will do that.

So I guess my questions a

1. Can one create a gradient that goes from "eraser-to-black", and then save it as a mask? (to use for question 2)

2. or perform the same task on each selected spot at the same time using a mask or

3. If I need to create an "action" for this how would one move from one spot to the next to perform the task on each spot?

Since I am new here I am beginning to search through the massive forums here but thought I would throw this out will I keep searching. Thanks so much.

Action Terminology -- I Need Help.

I saw this photoshop action the other day I was impressed with. I'm on the hunt for a similar Action but I'm completely lost on what search terms to use in my hunt.

I have 4 images that give you an idea what the action does. I will also use the images to help explain my confusion.

IMAGE 1 -- nothing special here -- just showing you the image loaded into PS.

IMAGE 2 -- Image 2 shows you the first step of the action. It basically gives you an outline of the image and changes the background. I would love to have the background color to be all white but all in all this is ok.

IMAGE 3 - In this image I'm showing that you can use any brush to paint in what you want to show on the image. This is where I get lost in my search. I have been looking for an action that can convert the background like you see in image 2 above and than give you the ability to paint what you want to show in the image. I have used terms like "sketch painting" "pencil painting" "painting image" "brush painting" "mask painting" but I can not find any actions that does what you see in these images.

IMAGE 4 - When you are done brushing , you can continue the action and it will change what you brushed in to look like a painting.

Ok..............I'm looking for actions that basically does the above. The two key elements of the action is how it handles the background and also gives me the ability to use a brush tool to paint what I want seen in the final results. Most actions I seen will just convert the whole image to look like a painting.........I want more control of what is seen in the final results by using a brush to paint what I want seen in the final results. What it converts to in the end isn't important but I would love to find something where I could convert the image so it looks like a painting, a pencil sketch, comic sketch, etc.

You can help me with what to search for or even better yet, if you know where I can find such actions, please point the way.

I spent 2 days on GraphicRiveer with very little luck or what I find did not provide me enough info for me to be certain I was getting what I wanted. Other than GraphicRiver, I have been googling but no luck.

Thanks

Can This Be Done? Is It Even Possible?

Hi,
I'm wondering if this is possible:
The right side is what I'm trying to achieve.
It's a simple enough effect, but the problem is that I'm curious if it can be some sort of dynamic effect in that I can change the "A" text to "B" and still have the outline cut out of the "M" (Or whatever if I need to change the "M" text to "Q" or something).
Basically I need the "A" and "M" to be able to change while the stroke of whatever the "A" letter (or shape) is will always cut out whatever shape, text, or image is placed behind it.
Is this possible without having to manually cut it out of the back image every time?

The illusion can easily be created by having a white background and using a white stroke on the "A" (that creates the effect I'm wanting)..
However I need them to be transparent and easily editable so they can be saved as transparent images for multiple uses quickly and easily.
(I apologize if I didn't get this across very clearly)

How Do I Achieve This Dotted/sprinkled Effect?

Hi, the image I have attached has a white dotted/sprinkled effect rather than a solid color. As you can see the dots are more dense in some areas, so I assume its not a fill pattern. Is it a brush that was applied more in some areas? or is it a large transparent image with random white specks applied as a new layer to the whole image, as the effect is also applied to the font.

Image That Looks Different On Black Background And On White

Hi,

Today I saw a picture that looks different on black background and on white. There is an example attached. Does anybody knows how to do this? I found an explanation on the link below, but doesn't worked for me (when I create the subtract layer, it doesn't result on a transparency layer):

graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/9088/image-that-looks-different-on-black-background-and-on-white

All I know is that the final image must be a PNG file, with transparency on it... But don't know how to merge the two images to get the effect of different images depending on the background color (black or white).

Can anybody help me to understand that effect?

Cropping A Complicated Image From A Complicated Background?

Good afternoon everyone! For the past few days, i've been trying to cut away a peice of audio from a screenshot of my music program. Here's an example:
I'm essentially trying to get this: (my first initial "crop-out") I wanted to know if there was a cleaner, more efficient way I could remove the audio track from the screenshot? This one's a bit sloppy and the quality isn't so nice. The problem is, this cropout of the audio is going to be going on a t-shirt. I'm afraid the shirt's overall design will suffer if I continue the method i've been doing. I've used the lasso tool around one of the tracks, and toggled with the options in "Refine Edge..." until I came out with the image directly above ^. I'm not new to Photoshop but i'm far from an expert. ANY help or suggestions will be GREATLY appreciated! Thank you!!

Request For Assistance To Create An Action

Hi All,

Request for assistance to create an action in Photoshop cs6 to Batch Change image background to white.

I need to batch convert high resolution product images through layer/vector mask +/or channels without using the selection tools.

Have tried to create white background layer and place original image made transparent behind ,but did not work for me.

If you can show the way for this or create and upload link to it,that would be much appreciated.

Thanks for your time.

Question On Vector Mask Functionality

Hello everyone, I'm fairly new to Photoshop CS 5 so I apologize if I am asking the wrong type of questions, here goes:

When working with Vector Masks can you:
1) "Link" or "share" one image's vector mask with other images? (ex. If I made "Building A" then duplicated it, but then wanted to change what Building A looked like, I would only have to change the source mask and the copies would be updated.
2) Move the image independent of the vector mask (it seems like I can only move the vector mask, not the image itself). Or in other words: can I move the image and have the mask follow it, instead of only being able to move the vector mask inside of the image boundaries?

My application of the question:
I'm making a 2D top down layout of a "city block" type area. To fill in the buildings, I've made Building A,B,C etc, and use multiple copies of each building. Ideally, I would like to be able to "link" or share say Building A's vector mask with all the other instances of Building A (so that when I change the master, they all change to the new mask shape). The second behavior I'm trying to find is the ability to move the layer without moving where the Vector Mask is on that layer (since it seems that you can only move where the mask is, meaning that even if I could share masks, they would all end up in the same place meaning I would have to re-position each one by hand again.

Any ideas are appreciated, thank you for reading.

Making A Sample Picture Of A Printed Card For Online Display

Okay, so here's the deal. I have a vintage valentine card that I want to sell as a printable. Currently though I am unable to print this out myself. The problem with this is that I can't take product sample pictures of this image in various uses. Right now I would like to create a "photo" of this vintage card as it would look if someone printed it out on card stock paper, then cut it out along the image outline. This would give a fold-able "greeting card" style, but the card would not be your typical square or rectangle, as the person would cut out the card along the image edge.

Here is the vintage valentine. It is in PNG format to preserve the transparent background.

Here is a similar example of the effect I want to create:

But I want to make the above effect, as if the valentine was cut out along the image edges, and not simply printed on a rectangular card. How would I create a product sample use "photo" with the vintage image in a cut out, standing up, card image?

I hope that makes sense.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Cheers,
Chyina

Automation Question

Hi

I have a file with 760 layers plus a background that is a photo. The layers are rasterised smart layers from Illustrator

I have a task by which I have to have the background always visible. I then make the first layer visible as well as the background and then save for web and devices. Once one I turn that layer off and then turn the next layer on and then save for web and devices. 760 times Oh God!!!!

I know I can create an action and even a droplet from the action the issues I have is how do I tell the action to turn the first layer on and then optimize the resultant image and then turn that layer off and then move to the nest layer and so on through the 760 layers

Any ideas would be great

Thanks
