When I am processing RAW files taken by my camera, in the histogram should I try and get the three R G B graphs to overlap as much as possible so that the graph turns white with only the smallest amount of R G B showing?
Hi all,
I'm working with a marine imaging lab and have been utilizing Photoshop CC to make area measurements of sediment profile images (SPI) of the sub-seafloor.
Our camera set up utilizes a camera inside of a wedged prism that penetrates the seafloor and takes a photograph of the sedimentary matrix in-situ. The image returned is then manually separated into two layers in photoshop and measured, one layer for the portion of the image penetrating the sediment, and another for the portion of the image showing the water above the seafloor. By selecting each layer and commanding the histogram window to display a pixel count from the selected layer only we establish an area of penetration in out image. Up until today the histogram was giving me a very accurate reading. Today we updated our workflow to utilize 16 bit Adobe RGB images converted to .psd directly from camera raw in 300dpi resolution. Our previous workflow involved converting .raw to .jpeg to .psd in 8 bit, 300dpi resolution. The images look great now but the histogram returns a pixel count of about half of the previously measured values. What is going on here? I can still achieve n accurate pixel count by ctrl clicking my penetration layer and selecting a histogram read from entire image, it still drops a handful of pixels around the marquee but it is much closer to reality.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Cheers,
-Steve
I have a folder of images.
I need to place, resize and center each image on top of one master (the same) image over and over for each image in the folder.
Then I need save or export each final image as a jpeg in a folder.
Also, it would be really cool if I run a script or droplet for single images at will.
I'm still a little confused by batch processing.
Your help would be very appreciated.
Plan on printing some large format Chromaluxe white gloss aluminum prints
Using a vendor/trade printer I work with just outputs what I upload
My issue is I am using images from 20 mp camera, believe files are about 5500 pixels wide so decent resolution but vendor wants 300 dpi at actual size which would equate to only about half the size I wanted to print
Looking to print as large as 36" x 24" but at 300 dpi my source file is about 18" wide
Started as RAW files
Since most cameras I think produce images in this range, I imagine this is a common issue. What would you do
Not place this order
(This vendor only has large sizes for the 3:2 ratio I desire)
Have photoshop up sample to 300 dpi or 240 at least using their tools?
If so which one of the options in photoshop do you use?
Submit my lower resolution files as is and hope for a good result
Thanks
I have a grid over my fantasy map.
the grid has 42px by 42px squares.
Each 42px equals 103 meters.
after using the Magic Wand to select my selection i open the histogram and it says the area of selected pixels is 490025.
How do I calculate the area in meters.
Post a stupid mans forum for me. I can photoshop and all, but math is just stupid.
Hi,
I would like to see pixel values of 16-bit TIFF images in Photoshop CC2014. I'm able se 8-bit (0-255) pixel values using he histogram and info tabs but it seems that when 16-bit images are opened the pixel values are still displayed from 0-255.
I want to do to see this information for scientific purposes, not for typical photo editing. I've read many discussions about the practicality of editing 16-bit images but would like to avoid having my original question overrun by that discussion here. I am specifically looking for differences between pixels with more resolution than 8 bits.
I found one recommendation t check a box stating "show pixel values in 16-bit" or something like that but I have not yet been able to find the checkbox.
Thanks for any help.
i have a signature watermark i put on my favorite images currently i have it is saved as a psd so i open it then move it onto the image, i was trying too create a brush that done this but the writing is white so becomes transparent when i make a new brush and only the camera icon is visible, i also tried to create an action where i recorded opening the psd , moving it onto an image, i was hoping this would work but didnt , something about move brush not defined if i remember, also the brush i created turns out sort of a green color see bottom image i know there probably a simple way around it and would appreciate any help , ive attatched an image of the signature so you know where im at , its transparent i just put a grey layer behind so you can see,

Hello!
I am new here
I hope I post it in the right branch, was pending btw. general and plug-ins.
I experience some strong artefacts that seem to come out after Imagenomics Noisewear application.
The photograph is challenging, so I am not wondering that it does not work that well, but I hope there is a way to get rid of the artefacts.
Initial condition:
ISO-1600 shot with Nikon D800
1. processed the picture in RawTherapee: exposure compensation +3.6 (I doubt that these are real 3.6, since 0 is darker than the out of cam jpg exposure), lightness +36 and some curves.
2. Imagenomic Noisewear in PS, does a good job, but artefacts remain. (default settings, luminance 70, color 80)
3. Topaz filter. that enhances of course also the artefacts.
Attached some shots.
Now, I understand that a ISO-1600 picutre with all that processing (exp. comp., topaz filter) will look messy. However, it seems the artefacts consist ONLY of black and white pixels (look at the 400x). Hence, I think there is a way to get rid of them.
And, yes, these artefacts are STRONGLY visible even at 20%, esp. because they are all over the picture.
Any ideas?
thanks a lot!

Unfortunately the pattern stamp tool insists on having one or two pixel-wide white edge on my touch ups. No brush type or amount of hardness I choose from the tool options bar gets rid of this. Any idea how I can set the pattern stamp tool to have a hard edge, so hard there's absolutely no fade to white at all on the edges.
Hi
I want to do an automate batch in Photoshop using raw files. Is there a way of doing this without being stopped to ask to open each individual raw file? I need to keep the files raw as I will need to then "start" editing them in Lightroom.... thanks...
