How would you "rasterize" the layer effects? So that instead of it being the object with the effects on it its just the individual pixels with no effects on them... does that make sense?
Hi folks, newbie to the board. I'm using Photoshop CS6 and have hit an issue that I can't get to the bottom of and was hoping someone could help.
I've completed an image for a client. The original involves many layers, and I have got to the point when I want to merge everything down into a PDF for them to send to their printers.
Problem I am having is that when I try to directly save as a PDF or merge down the layers in a copy of my main PSD file, I am losing certain layer styles.
I have tried creating a blank layer below an offending layer and hitting CTRL + E, I have tried creating a blank layer, hiding all but the offending layer and blank layer and merging visible, I have tried Layer - Rasterize Layer Style, I have tried turning the layer into a smart object and then rasterizing (I lost the layer style as soon as I turned it into a smart object, even though it is still present in the smart object itself), and I have tried turning the layer into a group and merging the group. I have also tried saving the file in a number of different formats to no avail. I don't know what else I can try and why none of this has worked! I've also tried right clicking on the FX in the layer palette and chosen "Create Layers" at which point I get a dialog: "Some aspects of the effects cannot be reproduced with layers", and I get the same result. Most noticeable style that disappears is the drop shadow.
Weird thing is this isn't the case for every layer. I've particularly noticed it happens on text layers that have been text warped. However I've tried rasterizing them before trying to merge and that hasn't helped so I can't see how that is the problem.
I hope someone can help, I am totally stumped. If it makes a difference the mode is CMYK Color, 8 bit.

There are 3 overlay effects available in Photoshop as layer styles: Color, Gradient and Pattern. The problem: these effects come in a strictly fixed order!
Is it possible to make a translucent Gradient Overlay over a Color Overlay using only layer styles? Or a Multiply Pattern and Color Overlays?
Hi I'm trying to create a poster like this. It's nearly done except for the grainy effects (noise) and the guassain blur.
Is there a way of adding effects to the whole of the psd file and changing the contrast/hue without having to flatten the layers?
Thanks.
Help! I can't seem to find the effects parameters in cs6. I am missing something HUGE. I am applying a blur, preview window pops up - great, effect applies. Now I want to change thie parameter. HOw do I access the controls? It seems some effects will show up in the layer window, but not all. I want to save, copy and paste effects I've built but don't know where they are??? Am I missing a window or preference or something??
Many thanks
Hi!
I'm having this problem since I upgraded to Photoshop CC.
This logo is made with a Brush preset that I created when I was using Photoshop CS6, but now that I'm using photoshop CC, when I use the "Drop Shadow" option and I rasterize the layer, the shadow fixes itself into something that I don't want, I've tried a lot of things, but just can't make it look correctly.
The first picture shows the logo with the effect before rasterizing, and the second photo is after rasterizing.
What could be wrong? Help!
I used to use quite a few Actions for special effects. Now, with Nik and
OnOne, I create "favorite" effects instead. I haven't used Actions for this
for quite some time.
Are Actions for certain effects (ie: Dragan) used much anymore?
Anyone have any Actions or Action sites they recommend? There's
a million sites that come up with a Google search, but many are not
really worth the time.
Hey guys,
So I'm a rather new music producer and I make some wallpapers for my tracks using Photoshop and then put some effects in there using Adobe After Effects.
So I usually just use either a gradient or an image in there, but it's rather hard to find images without copyright that look good and fit the track title.
And gradients kinda look boring (just a few colors that overflow).
So I was wondering how people make these kind of backgrounds:
(quality kinda sucks because I had it on 480p by accident, but you get the point)
Or a bit different style like this:
Or this:
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I know the "READ ME BEFORE POSTING" thread clearly said "rather use img tags instead of linking to external websites" but it kept saying that I exceeded my tags by 20. So yeah, changed it into this. If anyone wants me to upload it to Imgur or something instead I'll do that.

I apologize for any redundancy to the links provided. Nature of the beast, and I guess more is better in this case.
If anyone has additional effects they would like added, please PM me with the post url. The requests seem to go in cycles, fads I suppose. So if you remember one from some time ago that you like and think should be in here, PM me please with the thread url and I'll add it.
Following is a list of contents which will be updated as new topics are added. If you don't recognize the effect by name, scroll down to the images in each post and see if this answers your question. If not, post your effects question in a new thread.

Post 10: Sepia Toning
Hello everyone,
I have a very big issue that I don't know how to sort out.
I'm creating some mockups of some fashion products and I'm planning to use some "light strokes" effects.
Usually you achieve this blending some light strokes on a black background on using "Multiply" etc. on an image that has a dark background [in this way the black background of the light strokes disappears]. I tried to do this on backgrounds more "clear" but the light strokes cannot be seen [same for flames or whatever is "light"].
Does someone know how to blend light on white?
Thank you very much in advance!

Hi, I'm currently trying to design a logo for my very own streaming channel. I am having problems merging two pictures together but I don't have Photoshop or any Photoshop knowledge and I would appreciate it very much if anyone could help. I was recommended to come here by a friend who was having similar issues.
I'll attach the two images with an explanation of what I would like it to look like :)
I would like the blue picture to be the main background and the other one to be overlaid over the top with all the gaps to be transparent.
All of the small images have white backgrounds or glow/shadow effects so when I tried transparent effects on Paint, lots of little white dots where surrounding everything and thing with glow like effects still had their glow only in white.
Thank you in advance
Andrew
