Dear all,
I have a bit confusion about which software is the most suitable for designing a poster, brochure and flyer for commercial use ? I see that all of these software , Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrators can do it.
So please give me a good suggestion for which software to use.
Thanks and take care,
Hi Everyone. Im certainly not new to Photoshop. I have been using it since 1998 everyday. I am a graphic designer.
Think the reason I never come across this problem usually is because I make all my artwork for print in Indesign.
EG bring vectors in and images etc.
This particular project I have loads of textures that go over vector smart objects in Photoshop. As part of the look I need these textures and light leaks flooding across over the vectors I have placed in Photoshop.
Its a Zfold brochure and have built the whole thing in Photoshop due to the style I wish it to look.
MY PROBLEM
I have exported a 1x front of brochure and 1x Back as a Photoshop PDF and placed into indesign so I can use my fold and crop marks. This makes the live type that was in photoshop perfect and cant tell the difference that it was originally in Photoshop, it looks Indesign quality on my laser printer. The vector smart objects though are really blurry. Is there any way to keep the smart objects from rasterizing when saving in a file format?
Hi,
Ive never used photoshop or any other graphics program but am an architect and autocad user, wanting to create my own company's 2 page, 11 x 17 company brochure rather than go to a printer and get overcharged for something I can do.
How long will it take me to learn enough about Photoshop to do that?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks much.
Hey guys,
I hope you all don't mind me asking a few questions in this thread regarding a graphics design apprenticeship.
Well since I am a huge fan of photoshop, and love designing. I wanted a career out of it so I have decided I would like to do an apprenticeship.
Anyway, I'm just wondering what softwares I should get myself familiar with before I start my course?
I have Photoshop and inDesign already, any others? Be reasonable here though as design softwares are not cheap, please only suggest the important ones.
I am a designer who primarily uses InDesign and Illustrator and have a client that wants to recreate this gold and black gradient beveled embossed looking rectangle... however they want it in Photoshop. I for the life of me, can't remember how to do this with the gradients and changing colors. Is there someone out there that wouldn't mind giving me a step by step process on how to create that background box? I've attached the image. I know how to add the text, and all of the rest of the info, just needed help creating that outer border.
Thank you!
Stacey
hey everyone
i built myself a jukebox a couple of years ago and about the same time after trialling nearly every juke free or commercial around i come across touchjams , ive used it ever since and now im looking into making a interface skin that looks more realistic , ive never had a go at designing things using photoshop yet and any advice would be great , and if anyone wants a bit of fun id love to see some examples of what can be done
im looking at a more realistic button , definitely a 3d look , here is the interface skin i tweaked from thier website , i done the four album view the commercial one has smaller album covers but the programmer has added my skin to his website which was cool
heres a link to my build project which was a lot of fun , ive also added a picture of my skin , im
looking to replace the buttons on the left hand side for a start and also the play pause etc buttons
here are the juke pics if anyone is interested, you have to go down near the end of the thread page to see the finished project . http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/inde...,105231.0.html
Gurus: I have a big problem with a 12 image project. Example: All 12 original PSD images, 100- 300 megs each, were then flattened (all layers merged) to around half the file size of originals, then I converted to highest quality Jpeg's in the 10 - 30 meg range. I then placed the 12 Jpeg's in a InDesign template. The goal is the best quality product when I export the Indesign file to PDF. But my Mac says the entire Indesign file under "get info" says it is only 11 Megs!!?? Am I kidding myself? I thought I was getting good at this. Apparently, I have a lot to learn. Should I save the PSD's to Tiff's with LZW compression? Any other professional suggestions to make the project the best it can be when I export to PDF and not make a fool out of myself by publishing garbage. The publisher has a 400 meg PDF file size limit. I need your expertise, so set set me straight. I'm not going to compromise. So whatever it takes, I'll get it done. Thx, TimothyKim
A proposal has been made at my camera club that: 'Entries (images) must be 80% the original work of the entrant for club competitions. The proposal goes on to say that the 80% is for when Photoshop or other software is used to edit images in producing snow or other 'effects'. I don't believe you can determine the extent to which image editing software has been used let alone detemine a percentage for it. Would anybody like to comment?

Hi guys,
I'm really interested in learning realistic photomanipulations of characters (for example, taking a character from an image and compositing it seamlessly into another), but i've just started learning photoshop at the moment, so i was wondering if anyone could point me towards the right directions perhaps?
There's so many areas to learn when it comes to Photoshop, and due to the wide variety of art professional who use this software, surely some techniques or areas of photoshop are more relevant to certain type of artists- so when it comes to realistic photomanipulation, what areas of photoshop should i learn or focus on? and does anyone know of any good tutorials/guides/web sties/ or any learning resources they could recommend?
thanks in avance.
Above the book , all those beautiful illustrations , how were they made , i mean using which software or tools , Illustrations like these i have seen i very useful and effective in communicating a certain point . Would they need to be hand drawn (which would be slightly out of my scope) or is there any software thats makes the job easier ? .
I am just asking how it was created , not how to do it ? or what are these kind of illustrations called ?
Thank you .
Gautam.
Hello to PGurus! This my 1st Post & I am thankful for the resource(s) offered here!
My ?: I have MacBook Pro Ver. 10.6.8 w/ 8 gig RAM. The filter " Fractalius " only works on Windows. They will not make a Mac Version. So, can I run Photoshop CS-5 Extended through VirtualBox Ver. 4.16 software with XP on it (which I already have used to run Microsoft "Access" DataBase software), and be able to use this filter for my projects? Or is there any better way to achieve the same result? Thank You for your advice.
