Virtual Windows Software For Mac Machines

I have a MacBook Pro which I love and will not return to PC anything. But I posted a question on using a windows only filter called fractalius. I had my computer science all wrong. That is: you can not run a Mac Application such as PS for Mac through any virtual windows software unless the application is for windows i.e. PS for Windows. Right? If that is true, does anyone recommend and filter or plugin that emulates Fractalius fractal like filter?

Question On Filter "fractalius"

Hello to PGurus! This my 1st Post & I am thankful for the resource(s) offered here!
My ?: I have MacBook Pro Ver. 10.6.8 w/ 8 gig RAM. The filter " Fractalius " only works on Windows. They will not make a Mac Version. So, can I run Photoshop CS-5 Extended through VirtualBox Ver. 4.16 software with XP on it (which I already have used to run Microsoft "Access" DataBase software), and be able to use this filter for my projects? Or is there any better way to achieve the same result? Thank You for your advice.

Tracking Filter Steps

Hi all

Is there a way to follow the steps that happen when I choose a particular filter so I could make it by myself?
I use the 'plastic wrap' filter but I want to change several components that are made automatically and I do not want all of them.
thanks.

(Basically I take white lines on a black background and use the 'Plastic warp' filter, it thickens the lines and changes the texture and that's good for me - but it adds a bright spot behind the lines, which I do not want because I need it in a separate layer).

Photoshop Cc Offset Filter Margin

Hello,

I usualy uses Gimp for this but I wanted to give a try with photoshop CC
I want to create a seamless texture, so I use the offset filter
but check the image, on second aplication of the offset filter, it creates a strange margin for noapparent reason, ruining the texture

Here I use smart objects, but I tried with a simple white canvas, drew black lines onf it and applied the filter twice, I dont have the problem

does anyone knows what would be the problem ? I tried restarting PS and reloading the image but same problem

Help: Trying To Become A Better Virtual Portrait Taker : ]

Hey, I am trying to learn how take a blurry, pixelated image of a persons avatar in various virtual worlds and make it look almost human...here are some examples of the great work of =Marco=

and then here are my sad attempts

NO comparison, his work is crisp, clean, minimal blur, just vastly superior in every way.
So my question is, what program add-on, filter or special powers does this guy have to make his images so great? Any help would be amazingly awesome.
Thanks in advance to anyone who has any info or ideas!

Searching For A Lost Action/filter

I used to have an Action/Filter (can't remember which it was) that would turn a photo into what resembled the Matrix style effect. I was playing around as usual, and wanted to try it out on an image.

I haven't used it in a long while, but now I don't have any filters or actions that do it. I appear to have lost it, plus I can't seem to find it again on the web.

I don't suppose anyone here has something that resembles this.

Does Anyone Know A Way To Randomly Select These?

Hello,

I am working on big project with a lot of windows:

I have a lot of textures sticking on the buildings that look something like this: (this is a simplified example)

Now I would like to "randomly" select a part of those windows so I can make theme darker or lighter to create a bit of variation. (Like you can see in the upper left corner in this example)

My question is the following:

It's pretty time-consuming to do this manualy. Does anyone of you know how to do this in a more automated way? A script maybe?

Thanks!

Matching Paper And Line Color On Graphite Drawings

Hi Everyone!

I'm having a slight problem matching the paper on a number of drawings done on the same paper with the same graphite.

I intend to have these screen printed and while it'd be ideal to mask out the paper, the detailed nature of the drawings does not allow me to do so.

Here's my question then. How might I get all these drawings to match accurately enough to isolate the colors and values? Matching the whites even?

I've tried masking out the pencil and using curves to maintain the slight red while applying a b/w filter to the rest of the drawing and a photo filter on top of that. Unfortunately this still doesn't create the uniformity I need.

Thanks!

Noisewear Artefacts - How To Get Rid Of Them?

Hello!

I am new here
I hope I post it in the right branch, was pending btw. general and plug-ins.

I experience some strong artefacts that seem to come out after Imagenomics Noisewear application.
The photograph is challenging, so I am not wondering that it does not work that well, but I hope there is a way to get rid of the artefacts.

Initial condition:
ISO-1600 shot with Nikon D800
1. processed the picture in RawTherapee: exposure compensation +3.6 (I doubt that these are real 3.6, since 0 is darker than the out of cam jpg exposure), lightness +36 and some curves.
2. Imagenomic Noisewear in PS, does a good job, but artefacts remain. (default settings, luminance 70, color 80)
3. Topaz filter. that enhances of course also the artefacts.

Attached some shots.

Now, I understand that a ISO-1600 picutre with all that processing (exp. comp., topaz filter) will look messy. However, it seems the artefacts consist ONLY of black and white pixels (look at the 400x). Hence, I think there is a way to get rid of them.

And, yes, these artefacts are STRONGLY visible even at 20%, esp. because they are all over the picture.

Any ideas?

thanks a lot!
