Question About Shading

Hello everyone. It's been quite a long time since I've been here. I am attempting to add people to a family portrait I took (they are awful at telling time) and due to the pictures being taken about 2 hours apart from each other, the shading on the faces and clothing are just out of whack. Can anyone give any tips on how I can achieve mimic the shading of the group on the two people that were late or at least something makeshift that will suffice albeit not perfect??

This is my first attempt at this and it is to be a Christmas present for everyone in my family so I'm trying to make it not look.... well, amateur lol

All tips are appreciated. I have about 3-4 years experience w/ the software but I never used it extensively enough to know how to achieve this.

Thanks a lot!!

Something Up With The Gradient Tool?

Hi I've just created a white circle. I would like to add some shading on it to make it appear more 3D.

I use the gradient tool...but instead of it being white...with dark grey/black shading. It goes from white and fades to the colour of the background it's on. I've spent hours messing around with the gradient tool and the colours will not change. It just fades to whatever background it's on rather than a specified colour. All I want is a white sphere with black shading...rather than see through white.

It's driving me mad.

Cheers

Photo Mosaics Without Software

So I am a self taught photoshopper and I had a friend ask me to do cover art for his next album. He's just a small time local artist and had the pretty generic idea of a photo mosaic of his face made up of other pictures, but I don't believe in doing poor quality work. I'm a little lost on how to go about this project though. I know that I have to place photos of the same color on his face to build it up but I'm not sure how to start. All I can find for tutorials on the subject either use the same photo over and over or use overlay or something to make the photos appear to be the right color when they aren't actually. Or people just use software to do it for them. Can anyone help with either tips or a link to a tutorial or anything about how to organically make a photo mosaic in photoshop. I don't want to use software because he wants to make money off his album and I don't want to step on copyright infringements and I also think it looks stiff. Any tips??

Changing The Colour Of A Train

Hi All

I am reasonably new to photoshop but am wanting to get a lot better! I am quite interested in being able to change the colours/livery of objects in photos most notably trains due to this being one of my main interests.

I have an image of a train and I want to edit the livery but keep an element of realism.so It doesn't just look drawn like a cartoon. I have made an attempt at this but I am not massively happy with the results. I have uploaded both a copy of the original image and a copy of my amended image. My main problem is the lack of realism, because I am trying to go from a very light colour to quite a dark blue I seem to lose a lot of the detail from the original image.

I have also uploaded an image of the sort of thing I would like to achieve. The person who has done this makes a really good job of them and I would love to be able to achieve similar results.

The way I have created my image is simply but creating adjustment layers for hue and saturation and levels and played with the settings until I get something like.

Does anyone have any tips on how I can make a better attempt at changing to colour so it retains an element of realism?

Black To Another Lighter, Neutral Tone In Image

I am having an issue with getting a realistic look to an image where I need to make a section that is near solid black for the most part, be a lighter gray while keeping the shading/highlight transition. See image for what I am talking about. Is there a way to do this in a few steps? I would assume it would be some combination of the brush tool with a blend mode? Though I have quickly tried this without success. Of course curves is out since it causes nasty banding real quickly. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Request: Group Pic - Please Help With Removing Raindrop!

Hi everyone,

When I went on tour early this year, this was literally the only picture which had all of us inside. I really want to print it out and put it on my shelf, but as you can see, there's a big raindrop in the middle which blurs out the people. I was honestly considering trying to take it out with photoshop myself, but the last time I used it was more than seven years ago, and I know this is way beyond my skills.

Is there anyone who's happy to help me please?

I know people are busy and have their own lives to attend to, so I'll be very grateful to anyone who can donate some time for me.

Thank you in advance!

(P.S. I've also read the message on free requests. Promise I won't cause any issues here!)

Creating A Jigsaw For Christmas.

Hi everyone.

As the title stated I'm making a Jigsaw as a present for my fiancee and I'm posting this hoping for ideas.

I'm aiming to create a montage containing her and our two children in some "fictional environment".
For the montage I'm probably just gonna use their faces or heads the rest will be stock-photos.

So do you guys have any ideas of environments situations and the like?
She likes Fantasy, Crime Novels, Romantic and humor. So something along those lines. Mind you even If the Theme becomes similar to Game Of Thrones I think I'll give the montage a humorous touch, it is christmas after all.

The finished Jigsaw is gonna be 1000bits and measurements 65 x 47,5 cm.

And of course I'll be running the complete project here so I can get feedback and suggestions I want a polished look when it's finished after all.

[EDIT]

Added Pictures as per div8_fx's suggestion

Mind you I might not use a single one of these but you'll have something to start up some ideas.

How Do You Ensure Your Colors Stay Consistent Across Devices?

I was working on a portrait today and when I sent it to my android device (to test if the color look consistent) that photo turned out to lack red tint. I want my work to be well represented but I believe people on other computers and smart phones may see something different than I see on my screen. Any tips on how to ensure color consistency?
