Hey Guys , hows u all doing ? good afternoon from india
I have a small difficulty with an image i came accross the web
now if you look closely the squares that have text on them , they are not exactly flat , rather they are kind of curved on the edges , i tried adding a drop shadow and doing skew , perspective etc . but could't really figure out how to get the curved shape .
if somebody can just vaguely describe to me how should i go about creating such awesome squares it would be great . no need to post or something , if someone can just give me a fair idea , i'll try it and post the result .
Thanks .
Gautam,
Hi all
I need to redraw this shape in photoshop. I started by created rounded rectangles, and moving one under the other.
However, I can't re-create the edges between the 2 squares so I expect I am going about it wrong!
I want to learn to do it myself really rather than ask someone else to do it.
I have tried 'creating 3d squares in photoshop' but all I get is how to make cubes, which isn't the same.
Any pointers please?
thanks
Edward
I did find a post to this but the solution did not help me and it was over a year ago so I did not want to bump an old thread. Here was the post I came across
"I'm having a bit of a strange problem with the text tool on CS4 at the moment.
When I have drawn a work-path with the pen tool and then attempt to type along it the text does now show up and I cannot edit it.
The cursor changes when I hover over the start of the path to indicate that the type path is available but once I click and start typing nothing seems to happen. The name of the text layer changes to what I've just typed however so it is definitely inputting it somewhere."
This is exactly what I am dealing with now. The solution in the original thread said make sure the text is not white on white background ( mine is black on transparent ) and is left justified and not center or right. My text is left justified and it still does not show up. My text is Wet Dynamite. The odd thing is my font size is currently 72, if I drop it down to 48, the W shows if I go smaller it disappears again. Even at 48 when the W shows, if I try to retype, I still can't see the rest of the phrase. I have done this method before and had no issues in the past with this technique. This seems like a bug in CS4 to me.
Any help with this would be great as I can't get past this stage in my design and can't use the warp tool for text because it looks like crap.
Thank you for your time. Ive saved my project out into a test file so you can see. If you can load it and easily see or add the text in the top curved path, then I know there has to be an issue with my CS4
Hello guys,
I need your help because I am a total noob and I don't know how to draw this line on ps.
As you can see the right one is my work and it should look like the left one. I need that curved line from the top to the bottom. How can I do that???
Hi guys,
Hoping you might be able to help me out. I'm working on creating a portfolio website to showcase various creative works of mine that combine both my photography, and my writing. The portfolio site I'm building is heavily image orientated so I'm working on a way to use images to present my written work.
My idea at the moment is to break my stories up into manageable 'chunks' and place them over images that help tell stories.
I've been playing around in PS today, trying to work out how this can be done effectively. What I created however, isn't particularly great and I was hoping you guys might have some tips for working with text in Photoshop??
The image below is what I've got so far (very basic and incredibly unfinished!), I used a random font I found that I liked (any things I should look for in a font?), used the skew, and perspective tools after converting to smart object and I created a bit of shadowing under the text. One of the issues I had was that it's awkward to know what will happen to the text when it's distorted so I found myself duplicating the first text layer to skew, then deleting, editing the text a bit and repeating to get the formatting. It was quite a faff, is there an easier way?
I would really appreciate any feedback, constructive criticism, and tips. I'd like to make this Photoshopping process as simple as possible for myself in the future so I can keep creating easily.
Cheers,
KQ
Hey guys , i found this image with an awesome BG smwhere , wht i'am going to try to do is , reverse engineer it and post the result for you people to see , will start working on it tomorrow . below is the image .

Gautam.
Is it possible to do a perspective or distort/skew effect on just a motion trail or drop shadow without effecting the primary letters?
i am sure this should be relatively easy , but just don't know how ?? , i basically want to create something like this :
notice the "dots" are actually rectangular .
now this can be achieved with the pen tool and than using a brush and doing "stroke path" but there is a problems :
-- with the pen tool its difficult to get the circular shape .
is there a better way of doing this ? or does it just require better precision with the pen tool ??
i wanted to create such lines and use it like in a picture like this :
if somebody can give me a really vague idea , as to how i could , it will be great .
Thanks .
Gautam.
guys , I was just making a section which contains the about us paragraph . i usually see the about us sections are quite boring and the text from a users perspective is quite boring and uninteresting . have a look below :
can that be made anymore interesting ? how ?
i mean from a UI perspective , would it be good if i used just for the sake of attention grabbing , used a certain words as highlighters ( made them bold or bigger font or a different font ) ?
i just want to keep it simple but at the same time make the content more interesting (in a graphic way) . whats the simpliest and best way to do this ..... instead of a demontration , suggestions would be great .
Thank you.
Gautam .
I have a grid over my fantasy map.
the grid has 42px by 42px squares.
Each 42px equals 103 meters.
after using the Magic Wand to select my selection i open the histogram and it says the area of selected pixels is 490025.
How do I calculate the area in meters.
Post a stupid mans forum for me. I can photoshop and all, but math is just stupid.
Hii everyone,
I'd like to create a cube, but unfortunately, I only do have the normal version of Photoshop.
How can I create an exact cube? I played along with Skew..Distort, but the result won't be exact. :(
Is there even a way to create a 3D shape in the normal version of PS?
Thanks
