Revising A Png File. Question!

I have a PNG image that I have changed.

I'm wondering why it looks so different from the original.

I don't have the layered PS files so had to work off the PNG file...

The top one is the one I changed. The bottom one is the original.

Why is it that the original looks so clean and the revised one has little black lines underneath the icons etc?

Is there a different way to save that I should be using? I just chose save as: PNG

Any help would be appreciated.

Toggle Between Acr And Ps ??

Hello All-

I don't understand how to go back & forth between ACR and PS with Raw (Nef) files. From ACR (after basic edits) I open to PS as "smart objects" having saved the last ACR settings before so, as a "snapshop" in ACR. This 1st snapshot is always available to the end. Once in PS I create a new Levels adjustment layer (for color correction) then return to ACR for further edits. After my final edits in ACR I take a snapshot. I now hit the OK button to return to PS for any final edits and "Save As" from there.

It doesn't matter if layers are merged or flattened before the save to Tif from PS, but when I go back into ACR I don't have a snapshot of the last edits I made within ACR, only the very first snapshot of the basics.

Why can't I save my last edits from ACR as snapshots within ACR before going to PS to save?

I would like to toggle between the two programs and save the edits in ACR snapshots within the original Raw file, yet be able to access the first snapshot that is the untouched raw file. I would like to do the edits, keep them, and retain an original raw file. I don't see how to do it going between ACR & PS.

This was a horribly confusing question to write, I did my best to explain it. Thanks for any suggestions at all....

I Can Really Hate Ps Sometimes...

Just done a substantial amount of work on a particular project which called for a PDF file.
No probs...File > Save As > Sweet as...
Back to original PSD file...
Edit...
Edit...
Save...

Edit...
Save...Hang on!
Why is photoshop saving as PDF?
Save As...(PSD)
Bam!
All Layers gone.
One flattened PSD file.
Thanks Adobe....NOT!

I read the warning about saving as PDF too......it said it CAN change the Save As settings in the Save As dialog...
...Didn't say it bloody well would!

Why does it do that? Why change the settings? Just what is Adobe on? Can I have some? Please.

Lesson learnt on that one....but what a stoooooopid thing to do!

Simple (i Think?) Photoshop Request On Damaged .jpg

Hi guys, I had accidentally used my SD card on a faulty reader and it resulted in my SD card being corrupted, I had managed to extract back most of the files but some of the important (actually, just one that I care of) is damaged. The lucky thing is that I had sent out that image to my friend via Facebook before the card got corrupted so I have a scaled down full photo with me, along with the original (though corrupted) file with me. I was wondering if the bottom part of the original jpg can be replaced with the compressed jpg? That way our faces won't look too scaled down, the bottom part's not too important if it is blurry. Thank you!

Here's the link of the two files. It's in my Dropbox, please do take a look at it. Thank you!

Mega Exhibition Displays/ Billboards. Best Workflow?

Hi Photoshop Gurus

I have been working on a billboard 414cm x 230cm and i have on 4000x6000pix image from a fullframe canon 5dmkii filling up the whole billboard.

What is the best way to save the image for billboard printing + preserve vector lines and text on top of the image?

(i have worked with the plugin perfect resize to scale up but don't like the results)

Now i make a psd. 1to10 (all smartobjects) and then save it as 3000dpi instead of 300dpi so the file is 10 times as big when printed and therefore full size. This way make the pdf's much smaller instead of making 1to1 resolution then i have to save as tiff since the file is over 2gb (can't save as pdf when to big) and the result is actually not as good as the pdf when i review the exports.. + 1to1 is very slow to work with since the files turn into 8gb psb and can be saving/loading for 30-60min sometimes.

<b>Would like to hear your opinion on this billboard printing? What is the best method to get your design from screen to 414cm x 230cm billboard without any bad surprises in the printing.
</b>

The printing company wants the file in TIFF, psd, pdf,ai. My impression if pdf work with everyone so prefer to go with that, of no benefit with other formats.

Where Oh Where Do My Placed Images Go?

I am building a composite image, create a new image clean white background and drag from bridge the images I want to use in the composite. Here's my issue...the images I have brought in are automatically turned into smart objects..( love those) so I open one of those placed S/O images and edit/adjust it then save and close...like it should the composite reflects the change. I can open and close that s/o as many times and make tons of changes...again awesome....but I may want to use that same image by itself and want to retain those changes....but when I go to the folder that I took the image from, the original image does not reflect any of those changes.

So my question is, where on my computer does the edited version of the placed image get stored...I'm guessing a temp folder somewhere, but can't find it!! Any body know?

Thanks

Batch Saving To .png W/o Losing Canvas Pixel Dimension

Hi everyone, I introduced myself in a former thread. Name is Katie. I'm not new to Photoshop but am new to the more murky world of saving formats for various uses, printing, etc. I am in grad school, we're between semesters, and of all things they haven't really talked about saving! This week I was freelancing and saving to .JPG and .PNG, multiple images.

Problem:
I edited 150 images of product for a retail website on photoshopCS6. Company requires three sizes: two in .jpg, one in .png. Each image was in its own layer, in a group folder; a drop shadow effect was applied to the whole folder. For ea size requirement, I changed the canvas, resized all images at once to fit within it and ran the script.

I was able to run the Script on PS to batch save the .jpgs, and they RETAINED their canvas pixel dimensions in each image (700x525; 170x170). When I ran the same script to PNG-24, it worked but it DID NOT retain the canvas size and they were all wildly different.

I did some research, and found that people had to install script fixes to do this. I installed Dr. Russell's script for Image Processor Pro that should work in PS and Bridge. I tried it, still didn't work to retain size of PNGs. Am I simply using it wrong? Is that the only way to batch save certain file formats?

Because the images were due this morning, I individually saved every png ("save as" not "web/Devices") to ensure they were all 300x350.

I need to know there's a better way to do this for all other file formats, so I don't have to painstakingly save each image.

Ps Cc / 2014 Split Channel File-name Error ?

Can somebody using PS CC or PS 2014 please confirm whether the file names are correct for split channels.

Procedu
1. Open a file, (must be flattened if a layered PSD).
2. From the Channels Panel Fly-Out menu choose 'Split Channels'.
3. The file names of the resulting documents should be:

For RGB or CMYK file 'butterfly.png':
butterfly.png_Red or _Cyan
butterfly.png_Green or _Magenta
butterfly.png_Blue or _Yellow
butterfly.png_Black

My results a
AR_Red
_Green
A_Blue

These results are the same for every file I've tried. The original filename is totally disregarded.

Is this just me or is it PS CC and PS 2014?

Your feedback is appreciated.
Thank you.

Regards.

Ps To Placing In Indesign Then To Pdf For Pub

Gurus: I have a big problem with a 12 image project. Example: All 12 original PSD images, 100- 300 megs each, were then flattened (all layers merged) to around half the file size of originals, then I converted to highest quality Jpeg's in the 10 - 30 meg range. I then placed the 12 Jpeg's in a InDesign template. The goal is the best quality product when I export the Indesign file to PDF. But my Mac says the entire Indesign file under "get info" says it is only 11 Megs!!?? Am I kidding myself? I thought I was getting good at this. Apparently, I have a lot to learn. Should I save the PSD's to Tiff's with LZW compression? Any other professional suggestions to make the project the best it can be when I export to PDF and not make a fool out of myself by publishing garbage. The publisher has a 400 meg PDF file size limit. I need your expertise, so set set me straight. I'm not going to compromise. So whatever it takes, I'll get it done. Thx, TimothyKim
