Shapes- Path Question

I was just trying out one of Corey barkers tutorials on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxkUlB1n0d8. He does one thing that seems to escape me. He puts the first two shapes on one path panel. When I try it, PS insist on a separate path panel. Can someone explain how he gets it to do that. TIA

Shapes Are Red

I'm working on a tutorial and it calls for snowflake custom shapes, which I downloaded from Deviant Art. I set the color, using the same color code they recommended. The shape comes out red. Red, no matter what I do. I tried other shapes and they're all red. Mode is set at RGB color and 16 bits/channel. Can somebody tell me what is causing this? BTW I tried it on another image and it was gray (still not the right color.
Thanks,

How Can I Do This?

Hi. Hope someone can help me out. I am trying to do this to my 3 solid shapes I created in PS. I want to replicate this picture below of 3 blocks. I do not know what to use to accomplish this effect. A brush? Eraser tool? The three shapes have a grey background. Any help in explaining how to accomplish this would be awesome! Thanks.

Problem With Curved Text On Path Cs4

I did find a post to this but the solution did not help me and it was over a year ago so I did not want to bump an old thread. Here was the post I came across

"I'm having a bit of a strange problem with the text tool on CS4 at the moment.

When I have drawn a work-path with the pen tool and then attempt to type along it the text does now show up and I cannot edit it.
The cursor changes when I hover over the start of the path to indicate that the type path is available but once I click and start typing nothing seems to happen. The name of the text layer changes to what I've just typed however so it is definitely inputting it somewhere."

This is exactly what I am dealing with now. The solution in the original thread said make sure the text is not white on white background ( mine is black on transparent ) and is left justified and not center or right. My text is left justified and it still does not show up. My text is Wet Dynamite. The odd thing is my font size is currently 72, if I drop it down to 48, the W shows if I go smaller it disappears again. Even at 48 when the W shows, if I try to retype, I still can't see the rest of the phrase. I have done this method before and had no issues in the past with this technique. This seems like a bug in CS4 to me.

Any help with this would be great as I can't get past this stage in my design and can't use the warp tool for text because it looks like crap.

Thank you for your time. Ive saved my project out into a test file so you can see. If you can load it and easily see or add the text in the top curved path, then I know there has to be an issue with my CS4

Help: Paths Do Not Like To Line Up With Photo

So I have this logo I have been working on (first image)
But when I select the layer then add the path in the paths tab I get a messed up path outline. (Second Image)

I know I could just use the pen tool but that seems to be too much work. I was wanting to know if there was an easier way to do this. I have Ai if there is something there that could help me out. Thanks!

Question About The Pen Tool And Creating A Path

Hope I can state this question clearly. I'm trying to figure out how to assure that the adjustment handles on a particular anchor point exactly form a straight line with each other, rather than having one handle going off at an angle vs. the other handle.

In the illustration below, in the first path I simply grabbed the anchor point and dragged to the right. The two adjustment handles are automatically of identical length and are perfectly in line with each other (which creates a perfectly smooth curve).

However, in the second path, suppose I want to drag the right adjustment handle further to the right. I can do this manually, but then the adjustment handle is free to pivot up or down and I can only hope that I have kept the two handles exactly in line with each other. If they are not precisely in line, you get somewhat of a cusp rather than a smooth curve.

Is there any way to manually drag just one of the adjustment handles, yet still force both of them to be exactly in line?

Text In A Complex Shape - Hole In The Middle

Hi all.
I'm no newbie to Photoshop but today I came across something that annoyed me as it should be easy, but I just can't seem to make it work.
Ok, so let's say I have a load of text - lorem ipsum x 200 words - and I want to put that text in a shape and have it fill the shape.
Now, I know that I can make a path and click within it with the text tool to fill that path. However, I want to fill a shape that has a complex hole in the middle of it, which I want the text to flow around and past.
For example, let's say that I need to fill the area marked in green in the image below with text, leaving the white areas (there is also a white border) clear.
I have made a path but when I use the type tool it just fills in the rectangle and ignores the central area.
Any ideas?

Copy And Paste Changes The Color?

This one was too hard to describe by text, so I made a quick video.

Reshaping A Round Object While Maintaining Edge Quality

Hello!

I am trying to reshape a round image, with a very distinct texture and edge quality, into various different shapes. Most shapes will just have a small section knocked out of the circle (like turning an O into a C), but I want to maintain the edge quality and interior texture. I've played around with a few things but can't figure out the best way to accomplish this. Any ideas? What would you guys do?

Here is an image of a coffee stain to use as an example.

I'd like to turn it into a rounded "C" shape, like this:

Thanks so much for your help!
